We love Chocolate Treats
Do you love chocolate?
Why not make the most of some freebie choccie treats?
Whether it’s a Mars Bar, a block of milk chocolate or a Boost that’s your ideal snack, chocolate is one of the most purchased treats in the country. In the UK alone, the annual spend on chocolate bars is £3 billion, thats three thousand million pounds! The majority of this is bought from the big three manufacturers, Cadbury, Roundtree and Nestle.
The most purchased chocolate bars are Dairy Milk (Plain), Aero, Maltesers, Dairy Milk (Fruit and Nut), Galaxy, Mars, Dairy Milk (Caramel), Toffee Crisp, Fuse, Lion Bar, Crunchie and Twirl. Additionally, there are specific extras such as Caramac and Mini eggs which are seasonal or made for trial times.
In recent times, the demand for mini treats has increased dramatically, especially around the winter season. For example, Mars Celebrations can be purchased in large tins around the Xmas period, and commonly fly off the shelves immediately before Christmas as supply struggles to meet demand. Many houses will have boxes of chocolate in preparation for guests and family gatherings at this time of year.
Worries about the nation’s health come to the forefront of the media from time to time, and as a result, chocolate companies have brought in ideas such as Treatwise to raise people’s awareness of the nutritional content of their products.
Ad breaks on the TV might be fast to imply that chocolate is rich in milk, which we all remember is great for teeth and bones, however a simple inspection of the packet shows the downside of fat and sugar to highlight just two. In reality, everything in proportion is generally considered as sound advice, and chocolate bars are no exception. Awareness is the key, and the chocolate makers cannot be claimed to be trying to hide the truth, even if their marketing partners are successful in their role of talking up product benefits almost to fault.
Grab yourself some free chocolate today, or if healthy snacking is more your bag, why not try out a sample healthy lunchbox?
We love Chocolate Treats Comments
That is incredible how much the UK spends on chocolate, but it’s not entirely surprising because just about everyone loves chocolate! Plus, since dark chocolate is getting more known for being a health benefit, the demand for (dark) chocolate is increasing!
